| The canon from Beau Soleil |
Saturday, April 28, 2018 Pirates invaded Yorktown, the
Pirate Festival in Yorktown, VA. We took the trip into Yorktown and looked
around, at both the Festival and in the township of Yorktown. The festival is a
celebration of the area’s history of the 17th and 18th
centuries. Canon demonstrations, the areas historical society had flyers and
displays showing what life was like a few hundred years ago.
Then of course there were those who love the period and
dress in authentic styles of those days long gone. Then there were hands on
displays and activities for the kids.
The Virginia was
tied at the dock and allowing folks on deck to look about. Lynda and I were
able to go aboard, as well as walk around the dock and check out some of the
other boats in the harbor.
My good friend was there in his pirate gear. He had
his cannon for the demonstrations. I’ve been able to fire it while aboard his
sailboat, the Bou Soleil.
After seeing what was around the festival area we walked
around the historic area of Yorktown. It was our first outing in Virginia.
